What You Need

• Windows 10 or 11 computer to run the TakeoffAI/Markup AI desktop app
• Internet connection — drawings are securely uploaded for processing and results are sent back to your computer
• An Anthropic API key (see below)
• Folder space on your computer for incoming/outgoing drawing files

About the API Key

TakeoffAI and Markup AI run on Anthropic’s Claude AI models to read and process your drawings. Each company uses its own API key rather than a shared one — this keeps your usage and billing completely separate from every other customer, and means your drawing data is processed under your own account, not pooled with anyone else’s.

How to get one:

1. Go to console.anthropic.com and create an account (or use your company’s existing one)
2. Create a new API key
3. Save the key in a plain text (.txt) file on your computer
4. In TakeoffAI’s Config page, browse to that .txt file and select it

That’s it — the app reads the key from that file each time it runs. If you ever need to change keys, just update the .txt file or point the app to a new one.

Note: Anthropic bills API usage directly to the account tied to that key, separate from your WildRein AI subscription.
